Proposed bus service

ANNANDALE Community Transport Services is inviting local residents to share views on a proposed new seven-day bus service.

The new route being explored aims to connect Langholm, Gretna, Annan and Dumfries, with stops planned for local hospitals.

The launch of the survey was discussed at this week’s Annan Community Council meeting.

Annan Community Council chairman Neil Carruthers said that he was pleased they were “not alone” in concerns regarding the town’s current bus service efficiency challenges.

Annandale Community Transport took to Facebook with their survey, asking those interested in giving feedback to do so in the comments section of their post.

The post stated: “If there is sufficient interest, we would also be looking to recruit drivers to help operate the service, creating new employment opportunities within the local community.”

The launch of the survey has been met with a wave of positive feedback from members of the community sharing their thoughts on the social media post.

One local resident shared that the proposal is “a fantastic idea and vital to the rural community”.

Another comment added that improved travel connections will benefit the town’s most vulnerable residents.
