Annan fence talks

A FENCE could be erected between school playing fields and Annan community allotments following discussions with the headmaster.

It follows a number of conversations regarding access issues raised by members of the community.

At the town’s community council on Monday it was revealed that the headteacher is said to have responded to allotment holders that a fence would be put up at some stage, but that ‘no timing’ has been given at this stage regarding the plans.

The division would seal off access from the allotments into the playing fields due to safety and security concerns.

The issue of dog fouling in the area was also addressed at this week’s community council meeting, which is said to have had an ongoing impact. It was also noted that there is some disagreement amongst residents with regards to the decision. The option of a swinging gate to avoid cutting off access completely has been raised.
