Summer of fun underway

YOUNG people in Dumfries and Galloway are enjoying a wide range of free activities this summer as the Summer Play programme is underway in local communities across the region. 

Funded by Dumfries and Galloway Council, investing £264,000, the programme is offering free activities ensuring that youngsters have a summer to remember. 

Activities run until Wednesday 19 August and are specifically aimed at children between the ages of five and 18. They cover all interests, including golf and football sessions, community fun days, magic workshops, arts sessions, summer camps, day trips and much more.

Councillor Tracey Little said: “There is something for everyone as part of this fantastic summer programme of activities that are on offer. All activities are entirely free to attend, and this further emphasises our council’s commitment to tackling and alleviating child poverty across our region.” 

The activities on offer across Dumfries and Galloway have been designed by young people through co-design with organisations and ensure that opportunities are spread the length and breadth of the region.
