Praise for new garden area

AN ‘oasis of calm’ has been created in Castle Douglas.

Working in partnership with the local community and church gardeners, Dumfries and Galloway Citizens Advice Service have transformed the garden of their outreach base at the parish church.

The community have donated plants and flowers, some in remembrance of loved ones, and two new benches have been installed.

Adviser Carol praised the church gardeners for their efforts and said: “They have worked extremely hard to transform the garden area into a bright, tidy and cared for space.

“They saw how many people in the community use the outreach and said ‘people have lots of worries so we thought it would be nice to have a quiet garden in the community for them come and sit’.”

“Many who attend the outreach come to us in times of crisis. Now we can not only offer the reassurance of good advice, but a calming environment too. The gardeners really deserve a big thank you for all their hard work and dedication to the community.”
