Good News on the Horizon for Annan Road
A MAJOR Dumfries road – that’s been shut for several weeks – could reopen in the coming days.
The Annan Road has been closed off since the end of May due to emergency works.
And finally there seems to be good news on the horizon.
A Scottish Water spokesperson said: “Our teams have been making good progress and the damaged section of sewer itself has now been repaired.
“We are currently constructing a new manhole and will shortly begin the process of backfilling the excavation and reinstating the road.
“Depending on progress and ground conditions, we hope to be in a position to reopen the road by the end of this week.”
Traffic across Dumfries – especially on Lockerbie Road – has been busier than usual due to surface works on the Edinburgh Road, which has been shut during working hours this week.
