THE woman alleged to have abandoned her three dogs – who then starved to death – in her home has appeared in court.

Samantha Patterson didn’t appear at her initial court sitting back in May.

But the 38-year-old was in court from custody after she was arrested for allegedly supplying cocaine in Dumfries.

Patterson faces seven stomach-churning charges after police officers made a gruesome discovery at her home on Muirbeck Road, Newbie on April 29.

Inside, they found the bodies of three pets. An XL Bully named Silva, a Rottweiler-cross named Roxy and a Pocket Bully named Brocko were all found dead.

Horrific pictures of the tragic pets have since gone viral on social media, sparking furious outrage across the region and beyond.

Court papers stated an extreme eight-month neglect between September 1 last year and April 29.

Prosecutors allege Patterson abandoned the three dogs. She is accused of locking them up with absolutely no food or water, leaving them to suffer a slow, agonising death from starvation and dehydration.

The sheriff decided to continue the case without plea until July 14.

Meanwhile, Patterson pleaded not guilty to supplying cocaine from Sunderries Avenue on May 18.

A trial for that charge has been set for September 21.
