Shortlist Announced for Scottish Thistle Awards
The South of Scotland Destination Alliance unveiled a shortlist containing people and destinations of excellence found in the region’s tourism sector.
A total of 22 are from Dumfries and Galloway. Langholm’s Creation Mill has been selected for the Best Community Tourism and Events Experience.
Wild Dook Sauna, based in Lochmaben, is up for the Best Outdoor or Adventure Experience. Zoey Darnbrough, of the Annandale Distillery Group, is on this year’s rising star shortlist. The categories showcase everything from long-established accommodation providers to new ventures, including ‘unique visitor attractions’ and cultural events.
South of Scotland Chief Executive, David Hope-Jones OBE said: “It is a real privilege to celebrate the people and businesses that make our region such a special place to visit.
“I congratulate every finalist and look forward to celebrating their achievements together in October, before wishing our winners every success on the national stage.”
The South of Scotland Thistle Awards will be delivered by South of Scotland Destination Alliance and is supported by South of Scotland Enterprise and VisitScotland.
