THERE was a small earthquake in Dumfriesshire on Friday morning, the British Geological Survey have confirmed. Local residents took to Twitter to share their experiences of the tremor just after 11.23 am. Lisa McMillan said: “Oooohhhhh, earthquake in Dumfries this morning. It was quite strong.” And Carol Coutts added: “Felt the earthquake at Newtonairds in Dumfries. Loud cracking noise and could feel slight movement. House creaked.
