POLICE today launched an investigation following a serious early hours assault in Annan. A 25-year-old local man was attacked shortly after midnight. Detectives, who are making house to house enquiries, have appealed for anyone who saw a man and woman walking in the alleyway between Butt Street and Millpark Crescent, between midnight and 00.30 hours to contact them.  The victim was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.  Police Scotland said today they are also keen to trace three men seen in the alleyway bet...

A SWIMMER who has notched up successes in disability competitions has been named Sports Personality of the Year in the Annandale and Eskdale Annual Sports Awards ceremony. Sam Pattinson, 21, from Rigg, collected the award in a year where as part of the British team he travelled to Italy for the 6th Down’s Syndrome World Championships winning gold and silver medals and breaking four personal best times.
