DUMFRIESSHIRE MP David Mundell has welcomed Chancellor Rishi Sunak’s annoncement of additional funds for Scotland in the coming year.
Unveiled yesterday as part of the government’s spending review for 2021/22, the Scottish Government will receive £2.4 billion of new funding which includes a £2.1 million boost to the Borderlands Growth Deal, which aims to stregthen infrastructure across border constituencies.
Commenting, Mr Mundell said: “The Chancellor’s statement provides a huge financial boost for the Scottish Government. “I would urge SNP Ministers to use the £2.4 billion in additional funding wisely and to ensure the south of Scotland receives its fair share to help support businesses, jobs and vital services through this difficult period.
“I’m particularly pleased by the news that investment in the Borderlands Growth Deal will be speeded up to boost our local economy and create more jobs quickly.”
