RESIDENTS, business and community leaders are being urged to give their views on the towns of Dumfries and Galloway.

Professor Russel Griggs OBE, chair of South of Scotland Enterprise (SOSE), is a member of the Scottish Government’s Town Centre Action Plan Expert Review Group, which has launched a new survey.

And he is keen the opinions of people living locally are heard and included in the group’s report and recommendations, which will go to the Scottish Government later this year.

Prof Griggs said: “Community input is absolutely vital for the success of any future vision for town centres and we need to get this right. Now more than ever, we do need to ensure there is a national vision which reflects local people’s views, and ideas.

“Our communities are the life blood of our towns and villages. During this pandemic, more than ever, we have seen true community spirit shine through across Dumfries and Galloway and this is what we must build upon for the future of our economy and our society.”

The survey is now live at www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/yourviewsontowns and runs until September 30.

Prof Griggs, pictured, added: “I would really encourage as many people as possible to give their views, experiences and ideas via this survey. The aim of the Review Group is to ensure any strategy we develop has community input so we can get full support and ensure it reflects what our residents really want to see, and be part of going forward.”
