ANNAN have announced Wullie Gibson as their new manager.

The former Queen of the South boss signed on as a player at Galabank in January last year.

His experience helped the squad earn promotion into League One through the play-offs. And this campaign he was ever present in Black and Gold as Annan retained their position in the Scottish third tier.

The board at Annan moved quickly to make the appointment following last week’s departure of Peter Murphy to close rivals Queen of the South.

Many Annan fans were quick to back Gibson for the role.

Speaking to the club’s media team, the 39-year-old said: “I’m delighted.

“I expressed my interest to the board and they got back to me pretty quickly to say they would be interested to speak to myself, but they would be taking their time to speak to one or two others as well.

“I met them and presented them with a powerpoint presentation with my ideas of how I want to take the club forward.

“Pressure comes with the job. We achieved the goal of staying up.

“I said to the board it’s about progression. My aim is to establish Annan as a League One club and we need to get to work straight away.”
