Scottish spot for Courtney

ANNAN Academy pupil Courtney Barbour has been selected to represent Scotland at the Schools International Athletics Board (SIAB) Championships at Grangemouth next month.

The star athlete, above, will go up against other elite junior athletes from Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland at the event.

Coached by John Birkett, 15-year-old Courtney recently emerged victorious at the Scottish Championships where she achieved a remarkable throw of 12.64 metres in the shot putt, a new personal best.

This outstanding performance solidified her position as Scotland’s top-ranked athlete, following her triumph at the indoor championships earlier this year.

Courtney’s selection to represent her country is down to her dedication and hard work. Under the guidance of John, she has honed her skills and showcased exceptional talent.

As she prepares for the upcoming SIAB Championships Courtney continues to train rigorously driven by the shared goal of making Scotland proud and displaying the immense talent in the community.
