Prue backs diverse regional cook book

A NEW cook book shines a light on the diverse cultures, talents and experiences that enrich communities across Dumfries and Galloway.

The Depot Cook Book brings together 94 recipes from 29 countries, shared by people seeking asylum and refugees who have made the region their home.

It is described as ‘more than a collection of recipes, the book is a celebration of heritage, creativity and connection, with each contribution reflecting personal stories, traditions and the powerful role that food plays in bringing people together’.

The publication also features artwork by Nour, a Syrian artist currently living in Dumfries and Galloway.

And the unique project has attracted attention from celebrity chef and broadcaster Prue Leith after she encountered the project at the Melrose Book Festival.

Copies of The Depot Cook Book are available through The Depot, with all proceeds supporting the charity’s work with refugees and New Scots in Dumfries and Galloway.
