Billy named as crash victim
THE man who died following a crash near Lochmaben on Sunday morning has been named as William Laurie, known as Billy.
The 66-year-old, pictured, was pronounced dead at the scene on the B7020 near Kinnel Hook.
He was driving a white Ford Transit van, which was the only vehicle involved in the incident.
Emergency services rushed to the smash site at 10.20 am and the road was closed for investigation work and re-opened at 4.30 pm.
Police have appealed for information and Sergeant Lindsey Tait said: “Our thoughts are with Billy’s family, and they have asked for privacy at this time.
“Our enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances, and we are continuing to appeal to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
“If you were driving in the area please check any dash-cam footage to see if something has been captured that could assist with our investigation.”
