Wildlife and heritage day lined up

DISCOVER Powfoot’s wildlife and heritage at a free family nature adventure day next weekend.

Residents and visitors are being invited to explore the Solway village’s wildlife, landscapes and heritage at the ‘Into the Wild’ event on Sunday August 2.

Organised through the Solway Coast and Marine Project (SCAMP) Landscape Connections partnership, the event will take place from 11 am to 4 pm and offers a range of guided activities designed to connect people with nature while encouraging citizen science and fun outdoor learning for all ages.

It will feature wildlife discovery sessions led by wildlife expert Antoine Lemaire, opportunities for children and families to become wildlife trackers with Ranger Toni, investigations into the Pow Burn and its wildlife with marine ecologist Emilie Wardhaugh, of Galloway Rivers Trust, and a guided walk exploring Powfoot’s fascinating history and designed landscape led by Duncan Ford from Hoddom and Kinmount Estate.

All activities are free to attend, with sessions taking place throughout the day from the Bowling Green Pavilion in Powfoot. The programme is suitable for a range of ages, with activities tailored for families, children, older young people and adults.
