New charity record set

ANNAN was the final stop this week on a charity challenge.

Four members of the Round Table Club Family visited all 42 Scottish Professional Football League Clubs, ending at Galabank on Wednesday.

And in doing so they set a new record as well as raising money for three charities, Round Table Children’s Wish, The Samaritans and Re-engage.

The group left Ross County on Tuesday morning and arrived at Galabank just over a day later, in a time of 25 hours and 32 minutes.

Jim Conway, national president of the 41 Club, was joined on the trip by Heather Parry, national president of Tangent; Wynn Parry and Fiona Bull, national president of Ladies Circle.

Speaking to the Annandale Observer at Galabank, upon completion of the challenge, Jim said: “It’s been fantastic, it really has, we left at 10 am on Tuesday morning at Ross County and then we made our way around the grounds.”

At some stops they were invited inside for a look around and say they were made to feel welcome everywhere they went.

In 2019 the Round Table Family broke the World Record for visiting all 92 English Football League Grounds in 64 hours and 39 minutes.

Jim added: “It’s about friendship and fundraising, we raise millions every year for charity.

“Throughout the trip we’ve had the fellowship aspect, media coverage and we’ve set a record.”

After travelling non-stop through the night, the group headed for their hotel in Gretna to put their feet up for some well earned rest.
