Be prepared for Easter

HEALTH bosses at NHS Dumfries and Galloway are reminding people to prepare for the Easter weekend.

Their ‘Be Health Wise This Easter’ campaign advises everyone to check with their GP, pharmacist and dentist for changes in opening times and holiday closures so that they are prepared where their health is concerned this weekend. Steps to take include organising prescriptions and over the counter medicines in advance to make it easier to deal with minor ailments are home when GPs, pharmacies and dentists are closed. However, if symptoms of an existing condition or minor ailment worsen, contact NHS 24 by calling 111. And, in the event of an emergency, or broken bones attend the Emergency Department at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary or dial 999.

Eddie Docherty, executive nurse director for NHS Dumfries and Galloway, said: “We always appreciate the public taking measures to take care of their health as this enables us to deliver the best service to our patients who need to attend GP Out of Hours or the Emergency Department.”
