Zurie and Tara represent the region
TWO teenage girls from the region are representing Scotland at a prestigious equine event this week. Zurie Dempster, 16, from near Dumfries is part of the 2025 British Eventing 100 U18 Eventing Team, competing at the Bishop Burton Championships in Yorkshire. She will be riding her horse Carraiganard Obie and representing Scotland. Zurie, who attends Wallace Hall Academy, said: “I’m excited to be representing Scotland at the youth championships on my young horse Obie, this is his first season at 100 and I’m very pleased with him. “I can’t wait to see the rest of the team down there.” Also at Bishop Burton is Tara Kane, 16, from Eastriggs - above. The Lockerbie Academy student is riding her horse Anna at the championships and flying the flag for Scotland in the the International Junior 2* Class.
