Anniversary of disposable vape ban

Dumfries and Galloway Council fall into the top five in Scotland for the seizure of disposable vapes.

Last week marked the one-year anniversary of the disposable vape ban in the UK, with over 5000 illegal disposable vapes seized in 2025 in Scotland.

Since the ban’s beginning, Dumfries and Galloway Council has placed in the top five for the highest number of disposable vapes seized in 2025, with 325. 

Meanwhile, £1700 worth of fines were issued in Scotland last year for the sale of illegal nicotine products, with the problem being more widespread than just illegal vapes, as 157,000 illicit cigarettes were seized across the course of the year.
