Will Timam make it?
ANNAN Athletic manager Wullie Gibson knows how difficult a derby clash at Stranraer will be.
The Galabankies travel to in-form Stranraer and will be hoping new loan signing Timam Scott, pictured above, is fit enough to play a part after taking a sore one in Annan’s 1-1 draw with Clyde last time out.
Ex-Blues star Gibson – who also revealed that star midfielder Josh Dixon turned down a January move to another club – said: “Stranraer have been on a great run of form. We’re going down there expecting a tough game. The Stair Park pitch isn’t great at the moment, there’s not a lot of grass on it but there’s a lot of mud.
“But it’s the same for both teams, we’ll roll up our sleeves and go there and hope to get a good result.”
Meanwhile, three Queen of the South players are doubts for their long trip up to Cove Rangers on Saturday.
But there’s good news regarding one of trio as influential midfielder Reece Lyon hasn’t broken anything after he was pushed on the back and fell awkwardly on his arm in the final stages of the first half of Queens’ 2-2 draw with Inverness last weekend.
The vice-skipper – who jarred his elbow and heard a crack when he fell – was spotted sporting a sling whilst watching the second half of the entertaining Palmerston tussle.
After the match, Lyon quickly scooted off up to hospital for an X-ray which a club official has confirmed that there’s “nothing broken” but is “tender”. Lyon will be further assessed by the club’s medical team during the week.
Meanwhile, it has been confirmed defender Jack Hannah has broken his nose after his collision with Caley forward Chanka Zimba. This was a major talking point of the match as referee Jamie Wilkie failed to stop the play as Hannah was on the ground holding his head. Seconds later, ICT netted to go 2-1 ahead which enraged the Palmy faithful.
However, the good news is Hannah has no signs of concussion but will sit out of training this week.
The third player who is back in the injury tent is Brennan Dickenson. The versatile player came off the worst of a challenge in the dying embers of the match and suffered a swollen foot. Dickenson is not expected to train this week.
And gaffer Peter Murphy also revealed that winger Kai Kennedy – who scored at the weekend – is currently playing with an injury and is waiting for an X-ray.
Also keeper Ross Stewart hasn’t trained for three weeks and forward Kurtis Guthrie has an ongoing knee problem.
But Queens have added winger Menzi Mazwi, from Birmingham City, and striker Seb Mason, from neighbours Carlisle Untied, on loan until the end of the season
