Warning to all women

REPORTS of a man acting suspiciously and approaching women have been circulating in Annan this week.

And one woman says that she was ‘terrified for her life’ after being followed by him whilst walking home alone on Tuesday night.

In a warning to others, she shared her experience with the Annandale Observer.

She explained that the man blocked her path with his car, thought to be an Audi, then got out of the vehicle and tried to approach her before she called out for help. He was wearing a high-viz jacket at the time.

Recalling the incident, the woman, who does not wish to be named, said: “I was walking down Hallmeadow Place and a dark grey car drove past me and the driver blew me a kiss, before it turned around in one of the side streets.

“Then the car started to follow me past the park and pulled up on to the pavement and he got out of the car and started walking towards me.

“I was terrified for my life the whole time, I have never felt so unsafe walking in Annan before.

“Women in the town need to know this is happening so they can keep themselves safe because it will happen again.”

She has reported it to police and commenting on the incident, a Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.35pm on Tuesday we received a report of a man in a car acting suspiciously in the Hallmeadow Place area of Annan.

“Officers attended and spoke with a number of people in the area, no crimes were established and suitable advice was given.”
