Super Hooper!
ANNAN ATHLETIC defender Scott Hooper was the hero of the hour at Broadwood as he scored a last minute winner against Hamilton Accies. And the centre back — who has just returned from another gruelling long-term injury — dedicated his strike to newborn son Bailey. After Hooper scooped home from close range — which all-but secured Wullie Gibson’s side place in the Challenge Cup knockout stages — he celebrated his goal by putting the ball up his top and sucking his thumb. And Hooper revealed that Bailey will be attending his first footy game this Saturday – in his custom-made baby Annan Athletic baby grow – when Stirling Albion come to Galabank. Talking about his celebration, Scott said: “I started running away but then I remembered I better grab the ball. I had to ask the Hamilton goalkeeper to give me the ball. Thankfully he did because I knew he was about to kick it away. I had it in my head that if I did score, I would celebrate in that way. Bailey is coming to the game on Saturday so hopefully I can score again in front of him and hopefully we can get the win for him. “It wasn’t the cleanest of strikes. I hadn’t been up for corners all game but I had to go up in the last minute. I poked it home and just delighted it went in. I’ve not scored in a long time so hopefully I’ve broken the seal and I get a few more.”
