Strong Harriers turnout in Carlisle
DUMFRIES Harriers once again travelled south to Carlisle last Sunday to take on the Run Carlisle 10km and Half Marathon events.
Run Carlisle is a well-established and distinctive event that offers something different from the traditional road race.
Both distances started and finished inside Brunton Park Football Stadium, the home of Carlisle United.
Every runner collected valuable Harrier Grand Prix points for their efforts.
The 10km race brought the first wave of success.
Lynn Goodwin was the first Harrier across the line, finishing in 56:25, achieving a personal best.
Next was Karrie Milroy who smashed her previous time in this event, crossing the line in 56:59, securing a personal best.
Christine Proudfoot recorded a fantastic time of 58:53; and very close behind was Helen Anderson, who has her sights firmly on making a PB at the Three Villages event, crossing the line in 58:54.
Rounding off the 10km squad was Harrier veteran Jane Lenza who posted a time of 1:15:36.
The HM runners were next to take centre stage with another series of strong displays.
First across the line was Cole Nish, who seems to have the running bug again, with a fantastic time of 1:45:05 and recording a huge PB. Still smiling from her recent ultramarathon, Donna Davidson cruised across the line in 1:49:37.
Another Harrier who has been putting the miles in every week is Jenny McKinney who was over the line in 1:58:47.
Deep into her London Marathon training and using this race as preparation for the big day, Carol Elliot crossed the line in a solid 2:06:36.
The final Harrier to cross the line was Rachel Cameron who achieved a time of 2:43:40, her fastest in 13 years.
