Steven checks in at Gretna

GRETNA FC 2008 have wasted no time in beginning to assemble their squad for next season’s Lowland League West campaign following the signing of Steven Swinglehurst. The final details of the new league are still to be announced, however, one certainty for the Anvils is that their back line will be bolstered after they secured the services of the central defender from Workington Reds. With 344 competitive appearances for Annan Athletic, where he is considered a club legend, the 33-year-old brings great experience to Raydale Park. Black and Whites manager Vinnie Parker said: “(We are) delighted to get Steven in the door. “He ticks every box for what we need going into next season’s campaign. “We’re looking to shake things up by bringing in lads who will improve us and drive the team forward, and Steven’s wealth of experience will add real leadership and quality to that.”
