Statement win for Newton

NEWTON Stewart Rugby Club delivered a trouncing 80-3 National Two victory over Stewart’s Melville in Edinburgh last Saturday. The squad were relentless from start to finish as they dismantled their opponents to remain at the top of the table. This Saturday Newton return to Bladnoch Park for their final home match of the year. And a tough test awaits as they face second place GHK. Elsewhere, last Sunday, Wigtownshire Ladies secured all five points with a 59-0 win away to Bishopton Ladies in their final league away fixture. Shire tries came from Niamh Wilson x3, Carla Campbell x3, Candice Docherty, DJ Birkhead and Laura McNeil. This Sunday the team take on Hillhead Jordanhill 2nd XV at home. If they can net five points then they will clinch the West Division One title. Wigtownshire Men are also in action this weekend. On Saturday they travel to Cumbernauld in West Two.
