Star Ladies shine at Galabank
ANNAN Athletic Ladies were beaten 4-3 by Dalbeattie Star Ladies in a disappointing afternoon at Galabank last Sunday in the SWFL South. Dalbeattie took an early lead in the fourth minute, before Annan drew level through Phoebe Thorburn. However, the visitors went back in front almost immediately. Jemma Gallacher equalised shortly after from the penalty spot to make it 2-2 at halftime. But the game turned early in the second half, with Dalbeattie scoring twice in quick succession on 60 and 63 minutes to take control of the contest. Chloe Walton pulled a goal back in the 86th minute to give Athletic hope late on, but it was not enough to complete a comeback. Despite spells going forward, Annan were punished for lapses at key moments. They have plenty to work on in the few remaining games of the SWFL South season. Annan player of the match was Phoebe Thorburn. The ladies are back in action this Sunday as they travel to Giffnock SC to take on the league leaders.
Meanwhile, Gretna FC Ladies and Girls entertain second place Stewarton Annick Ladies at Raydale.
