Stage set for Annan fight night
THE stage is set at the Corner House Hotel in preparation for the Solway Spartans second ever home show tonight.
A sold out crowd in the function room will witness 16 bouts, including ten Annan boxers and others from clubs up and down the country.
Spartans head coach Terry Bruton said: “We will have ten Solway Spartans boxers in action, with four of these being exhibition bouts.
“We are hoping for a full card of boxing which will include 16 bouts: our main event will be Aaron McKinnel v Kash Mohammed from Southside Academy.
“We also have local clubs such as Nithvalley and Carlisle Villa on, we have a few crossed bouts on the card as well, so the crowd will certainly be getting their money’s worth.”
After months of planning, Terry is very much looking forward to the show. He added: “Fingers crossed everyone makes weight, it has been an eventful time with pull outs and trying to rematch - fingers crossed nothing else changes.
“Training has been going well, with regular sparring trips, hill sprints, gym work. So now it’s up to our boxers to deliver the performance that we know they are capable of.
“Big thanks to M Warbeck and A Murray for all their help in organising the event.
“Also, big thanks to our sponsors and everyone who has helped with the event.”
