ANNAN Athletic forward Aidan Smith was the big winner at the end of season player awards night last Saturday. The 28-year-old – who broke the 100-goal barrier for the club just a few weeks ago and is the club’s record appearance holder after playing 360 games – received a number of prizes on the evening. Smith, of Dumfries, was named Supporters’ Player of the Year; Young Supporters’ Player of the Year; and Top Scorer, with 17 goals so far in all competitions.

Meanwhile, fellow Doonhamer Scott Hooper was named Management Team and Away Day Player of the Year. Keith Watson picked up the Directors’ Player of the Year and Lochmaben’s Charlie Maxwell was voted Young Player of the Year. Wullie Gibson’s wonder-goal away to Clyde in the Scottish Cup, which set up a mammoth cup tie away to Rangers at Ibrox, was voted Goal of the Season. The event in the clubhouse at Galabank was organised in conjunction with Annan Athletic FC Supporters’ Club (AAFCSC). Milestone awards were also handed to: Aidan Smith, for reaching 100 goals and becoming record appearance holder, 360. Tommy Muir and Scott Hooper, for reaching 200 appearances. Tommy Goss, 150 appearances. Max Kilsby and Wullie Gibson, 100 appearances. Ryan Muir, Paul McGowan, Charlie Maxwell, Paul Smith and Cammy Clark, 50 appearances. Thanks are expressed to AAFSC for organising the presentation, alongside McK Graphics for sponsoring the trophies and singer Emilia Rose for providing the entertainment. Special thanks were also expressed to volunteers, fans, shareholders and sponsors for their continued support.
