Sheila wins Probus putting comp
LOCKERBIE and Lochmaben Probus Club president Alan Collins welcomed 16 members and their partners to the annual Probus putting competition at Lochmaben Golf Club last Thursday. Five pairs of putters competed on a magnificently prepared green and managed to avoid the several severe downpours on the day. Later, president Alan Collins welcomed 16 members to an excellent lunch at the club’s recently refurbished ‘snug lounge’. In the past the ‘putting challenge’ was for the John Sinclair Trophy, this has been replaced by the ‘Sandy Grant Shield’ in memory of Sandy, former Probus president and organiser of the competition. The inaugural winner was Shelia Grant who was also presented with the John Sinclair Trophy to keep in recognition of Sandy having won the trophy six times. President Alan Collins presented Shelia with both the shield and trophy. The next Probus meeting will be at The Somerton House Hotel on September 25, 10 am for 10.30 am start, the speaker will be John Jones.
