SOLWAY Pétanque Club played their last club competition of the season on Sunday. Thirteen players competed for the Mixed Singles Cup 2025. Matches were very close throughout the day. The final between Irving Mackay and David Kirkpatrick ended in a 13-3 victory for David. There was also a presentation for most improved player of the season which went again to David Kirkpatrick. Congratulations are expressed to David and many thanks to all those who took part in competitions throughout the year and to David Mackie for organising them. The club has had a fantastic year so far, but it does not stop there. Upcoming club nights will be brought forward to accommodate earlier darkness and play will continue all winter. Next week will be a coaching session and the following week some members are heading to Penicuik to represent Annan in their first Scottish Pètanque Association competition. A winter league will also be running through from October to March, and anyone in the community is welcome to come along and join a friendly group.
