MID Annandale have acted fast to secure a head coach ahead of the new South of Scotland League season. Former player Scott Martin has assumed the role. The Lockerbie club were on the search for someone to lead the first team squad after the departure of Craig Simpson and Paul McDermott. A Mids club statement said: "We are delighted to announce that former player Scott Martin has agreed to become our new first team head coach. "Scott played with the Mids during the seasons 2007-2013 and, although he never featured on the 3G at Lockerbie due to the club playing home matches in Annan at the time, he has always remained close to football in the region. "Since then, Scott has built up a wealth of coaching experience across the local game. "He coached with Annan CAS 14s before working across several age groups within the club and later becoming involved in the SFA Stars Project. "He also spent time helping with the Mid Annandale 15s before returning to Annan to manage their South Team for two seasons. "Scott then took charge of Lochar Thistle 20s, spent a season as coach with Gretna in the Lowland League and has most recently been back with the Lochar 20s over the last two seasons. "Everyone at The Mids would like to welcome Scott back to the club and we wish him every success in his new role."
