Returning Goss targets play-off spot
TOMMY Goss was delighted to pull back on an Annan shirt and take to the field at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup. The striker, who returned from his loan at East Fife during the week, came on as a second half sub in the 5-0 defeat. And, despite the scoreline, he certainly did no harm with his display, winning a few headers and taking some positive touches. Goss said: “It was some game to come back to. “It was a great night for the club and the fans, and I thought, even though the scoreline was a bit big, we played amazing. “So, it was a good night.” Praising the visiting support, he added: “That was massive for us. Even at the start of the game, hearing them singing and cheering us on was massive. “I think there was over 1000 that travelled, it was really good.” Last July Goss asked for permission to pursue other opportunities. He joined the Fifers in League One and scored three goals in 18 games. He explained that any issues between himself and Athletic have now been ironed out. Goss said: “(Leaving) was nothing to do with the management. “Myself and the manager have always had a good relationship, and I kept in regular contact with him throughout my loan. “It was just something between myself and the club, but we’re back now and it’s all good.” Happy to be back, Goss announced that a League Two play-off spot was the goal for the end of the season. He said: “We just need to kick on, we’ve got a really good group there. “You can see in recent weeks we’ve maybe not had a big bench, we’ve brought a couple of boys in and we just want to push on. “The play-offs are the main aim now.” Vice club captain Scott Hooper welcomed the striker back. He said: “Obviously, Tam Muir is a big boy up front but (having Goss back) takes the heat off of him a wee bit and there’s maybe a wee bit less pressure with Tommy being there as well. “Hopefully we can get them both into the squad and utilise them.”
