Rams prepare for Triple Crown charity cycle ride
OFF the back of their Grand Slam Tour, which helped raise over £1m for Motor Neuron Disease research, a Moffat Rams team is gearing up once again to hit the road and help to raise money in 2026.
This time, they will be one of the more than 30 teams taking part in Doddie’s Triple Crown, the 2026 edition of Rob Wainwright’s epic annual cycling challenge in aid of the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation.
The charity, which wants to see a world free from MND, was launched in 2017 by former Scottish international rugby star Doddie Weir OBE and his trustees. Doddie died from MND in November 2022.
The 2026 cycle challenge will take place from Tuesday March 10 to Friday March 13. Teams will cover 800 miles over four days, culminating in their arrival in Dublin on the eve of Scotland’s clash with Ireland at the Aviva Stadium.
The route for this year’s challenge is as follows: Day one - Melrose to Leeds; Day two - Leeds to Gloucester; Day three - Gloucester to Pembroke; Day four - Rosslare to Dublin.
The Rams are grateful for the support of local businesses, sponsors, and the wider community to help make this effort a success.
Every donation and show of support brings them one step closer to making a difference in the fight against MND.
The fundraising page has already opened, it can be accessed at justgiving.com/page/moffatrams
The team is also seeking sponsors to help purchase provisions and cover overhead costs.
