QUEEN of the South Ladies are through to the third round of the Scottish Cup. It comes after an impressive 3-1 victory over St Mirren at Palmerston on Sunday. It was a tough game against a strong side but a huge team performance made sure Queens continued their fine start to the season. Holly Ovens, pictured above, opened the scoring from close range for the Doonhamers on the half hour mark before being pegged back by the Paisley outfit. However, Haylie Crosbie restored Queens’ lead thanks to a penalty on 54 minutes. And Eve Crombie put the icing on the cake with a fine finish on 66 minutes. Crombie was named player of the match by supporters. The draw for the third round was made on Monday where Queens were handed another home draw. They will take on Championship side Stenhousemuir with ties being played on the weekend of Sunday, December 7. The team – who are top of League One – are on their travels this Sunday as they take on Cambusdoon Ladies with a 2.15 pm kick off.
