SCOTLAND star Lyndon Dykes has officially become Queen of the South’s record transfer fee received, the Dumfries club confirmed this week. Dykes, 29, left Palmerston in 2019 after amassing 136 appearances and scoring 22 goals. He moved to Livingston in the Scottish Premiership before joining QPR in the English Championship for a reported £2m. And last season he made the switch to Birmingham City for a reported £1m. Queens confirmed earlier this week that the proportion of the fee they are entitled has made Dykes the club’s record transfer fee received. A club statement said: “We are delighted to confirm that, following his recent move to Birmingham City, Lyndon Dykes has officially become the highest transfer fee player in Queen of the South’s history. “(Lyndon’s) career shows exactly what hard work, determination, and perseverance can achieve, and he serves as an inspiration for the next generation of players especially in Dumfries and Galloway. “Everyone at Queen of the South congratulates Lyndon on his continued success and thanks him for playing an important part in our history.” The club’s previous record received was £255,000 for Andy Thomson, after he moved to Southend in 1994.
