QUEEN of the South manager Peter Murphy will sit down with the Palmerston board to discuss adding to his threadbare squad this month. Assistant gaffer Colin McMenamin revealed after the Doonhamers’ 1-0 Challenge Cup loss to Raith that he hopes they can get some cash to help him with their promotion battle. It comes after on-loan forward Freddie O’Donoghue’s loan deal came to an end and he has headed back to parent club Carlisle. And with four seniors players missing for Tuesday’s match, Queens named only four subs on the bench. This was dwindled to three after Reece Lyon was injured during the warm up. McMenamin said: “Freddie going means it leaves us really light. The manager will speak to the board this week and hopefully we can get some funds to bring in two or three players who will help us and push us on to have a strong end to the season.” And on O’Donoghue’s return to Brunton Park, boss Murphy said: “We would like to thank Carlisle United for allowing Freddie to join us for the first half of the season where he has contributed with a few goals and good performances. “He is a young enthusiastic player with real potential due to all of his attributes and willingness to work hard for the team. Not only was he a joy to work with, he was a real character and will be missed around the place.”
