Packed programme for the show

THE tents up, the fences are secure and the ground is good for Dumfries Show on Saturday.

Park Farm will come alive as it once again hosts the largest agricultural event in the area.

Entries in the livestock sections are as good as ever and the organisers are delighted to be hosting two national shows – in the cattle line it is the Hereford Scottish National and among the sheep section it is the National Bleu Du Maine Show.

Trade stands will feature a great variety: from tractors and agricultural implements to cars, from renewable energy to toys and children’s entertainment and everything in between.

There will be over 50 stands in the craft fayre providing a range of handmade items, while the popular food festival will be showcasing many local and home produced products.

Around the show field there will be entertainment from Daffy Dill, a balloon modeller, shearing demonstrations, Young Farmers competitions, face painting, displays of spinning, weaving and dying in the Fleece Tent; and a vintage machinery display.

For anyone that can’t wait until Saturday, it’s free entry on Friday from 3-9 pm for the exhibition of home and garden arts show, with the trophy presentation taking place at 7.30 pm by Anne Croucher.

Also, on Friday there will be Working Hunter, Mountain & Moorland Working Hunter Pony, Mountain and Moorland Ridden section, Working Hunter Pony, Riding Ponies and Show Pony classes, Coloured Horses and Ponies, Palominos, Thoroughbred Horses having been raced and unaffiliated showjumping.
