Emergency services respond to struggling group at Fleet Bay
FIVE paddle-boarders and a person in an inflatable kayak were supported by emergency services after they experienced difficulty in the Fleet Bay area on Saturday.
Kirkcudbright and Isle of Whithorn Coastguard rescue teams were joined by Kirkcudbright RNLI at around 6.20 pm.
The teams were called after the group found themselves struggling against an offshore wind and beginning to tire.
After calling 999 and requesting assistance, they were located by Kirkcudbright Coastguard, who kept a visual on them.
Officers met the group, checked them over and provided safety advice as they reached the shore.
All teams were stood down by 7.50 pm.
The Coastguard praised the group’s decision to call for help and thanked Kirkcudbright RNLI for its assistance during the call-out.
