No festive joy for Sharks
SOLWAY Sharks endured two losses to round off their 2025 campaign.
The team fell short to the Telford Tigers (6-5) at the Shark Tank on Saturday night.
The Tigers scored the first goal of the evening but the Sharks were quick to respond with Jordan Buesa netting an equaliser.
It was a tightly contested middle frame with the scores locked at 4-4 with a one-period hat-trick for Sharks star Jonny Yantsis.
But Telford would score twice in the final period. Torran Anderson did get on the scoresheet but it wasn’t enough to pick up the points in what was a controversial encounter.
The following day, the Sharks lost 8-5 on the road to Sheffield Steeldogs.
It was a hectic start to the contest with three powerplay goals in the opening ten minutes, but the hosts edged the first period 3-2. Yantsis netted a double for the Sharks.
It was an incredibly even period with 12 shots and two goals each (Liam Stenton and Jake Bolton scored for the Dumfries side).
The Sharks trailed the Steeldogs by one goal going into the final period but the hosts kept the pace scoring twice. Bolton bagged his second of the contest.
This weekend, the Sharks welcome Hull Seahawks to the Ice Bowl. Face-off is at 7 pm on Saturday. The two then face off on Sunday down in Hull with a 5.30 pm start.
