A DUMFRIES charity is celebrating a £17,500 grant to help them buy a food delivery van.

Established in the town over 24 years ago, Food Train now has around 1100 volunteers supporting 2500 older people across several regions in Scotland.

Food Train regional manager Helen McAnespie was delighted in hearing the news of the donation., And she said: “This allows us to upgrade our local vans and lets us increase our capacity to deliver vital grocery supplies to the most vulnerable older members of our local communities. Morrisons is already one of our shop partners that we work with on a weekly basis across Scotland and this additional support is very much appreciated by everyone at Food Train.”

Morrisons Foundation Trustee David Scott explained the foundation is committed to helping the most vulnerable people in society. He said: “I’m delighted that the Morrisons Foundation has been able to help fund a new van to enable Food Train to continue its vital work to support older people in communities throughout Scotland.”
