QUEEN of the South manager Peter Murphy wants to add to his side for the second half of the season. With Queens sitting in fourth place and in a play-off battle – and only five points off leaders Inverness – Murphy believes he could do with one or two fresh faces through the door. If you look back over the years, Murphy’s sides always seem to pick up pace in the second half of the season. That was definitely the case last term at Palmerston and previously when he was at the Annan Athletic helm for nearly seven years. And when asked what changes after the half way point of campaigns, Murphy said: “I think in the past at the clubs I’ve been at we’ve managed to strengthen in January to what we’ve already got. “I said last year that if we could keep the majority of the nucleus of the players that we’ve already got and add a little bit of quality to it then hopefully we’ll do better. “We’ve had this first half of the season but I do feel we do need a couple more reinforcements. “That’s a discussion (with the board) we do need to have. We do have everybody fit (barring Jordan Allan) at the moment and I’d like to think that would happen for the rest of the season but the likelihood is that it won’t. “We do need a couple more reinforcements in to be able to push into the second half of the season. “And being in the position that we are in now, you’d like to think that we’ll get that backing.”
