Mid Annandale 6-2 Nithsdale Wanderers MIDS moved above their opponents and into eighth position following a fine South of Scotland League victory at Lockerbie on Saturday. Looking to put last weekend’s disappointing result at Lochar Thistle behind them, Mids started at breakneck speed with a goal in the first minute when Luke Hammond released Robbie Carcu for a smart finish. The Lockerbie side continued to dominate, and it was no surprise when Darren Monteith netted midway through the first half after some good play by Robbie Carcu. As is the Mids way they then allowed Nithsdale back into the match from a free kick rebound after a foul by Drew Jackson on the edge of the area. The second half started with the Mids still a goal up, but it did not last long as slack midfield play allowed the Sanquhar side to net a leveller. Stung by that, Mids hit back almost immediately with Monteith pouncing to net his second of the afternoon to put his side back in front. And it was not long before he completed his hat trick, taking advantage of a defensive mistake to put his side 4-2 up. The game went quiet after this until the last ten minutes when speedy substitute Andrei lit up proceedings with two quick fire strikes to make the final score 6-2 and secure all three points for the home side . This result will give the Mids a massive confidence boost prior to their trip to Dalbeattie on Tuesday evening for a Cree Lodge Cup semi final tie against the Star, kick off is at 8 pm.
