Mids crash in final fixture
MIDS travelled to New Abbey on Saturday for their final fixture of the Utility sponsored South of Scotland League campaign.
Up against Abbey Vale, the Lockerbie lads ended up on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline.
An inauspicious first half found the Mids a goal down on 15 minutes when the unmarked Abbey Vale centre back headed home.
Ben Robson then found himself really unlucky to be adjudged offside after his lobbed header found the net.
And, in the last action of the first half, the Lockerbie side went two down after a misplaced defensive pass was dispatched by a Vale forward.
Mids did improve in the second half but two late goals from the home side, again from headers, and a Robbie Carcu strike for the Lockerbie men completed the scoring.
Pluses for the Mids were a late surge where the could have nicked two or three more and an encouraging debut for 16-year-old local lad, Jake Gibson.
The Mids have now finished, at present, in 8th position on 15 points.
They have one more fixture to complete, a cup tie at Lockerbie on Monday May 4, their opponents are yet to be confirmed.
Next Wednesday Lochmaben complete their league season at home to Abbey Vale.
