Medal haul for young swimmers

A MEDAL haul was scooped by young swimmers from the region.

The team from Dumfries ASC are celebrating success in the 40th Anniversary Junior Meet at Chester-le-Street. Eleven club swimmers attended the meet and brought back 20 medals. It was a particularly strong showing from Owen McBurnie, 12. He won golds in the 200m freestyle, 200m breaststroke, 200m backstroke and 400m Individual Medley.
There were also golds for Liam Eccleston and Ava Simpson; silvers for Stephen Dale-Sunley, Liam Eccleston, Ava Simpson, Alexa Solley, Bryce Procter; and bronzes for Alexa Solley, Stephen Dale-Sunley and Bryce Procter.
Meanwhile, Ben Copeland, Abi Fyall, Evie Hitchell, Nadine McDonald and Kara Myatt all swam well and achieved several personal best times.
