Let’s go again!
Annan lost 4-2 to EK at Galabank last Saturday, bringing to an end a run of three wins and five draws.
Gibson now wants his side to take seven points from their upcoming away triple header.
He said: “The run, as a whole, has been positive. We’ve probably had one too many draws in there for my liking. We’d rather have won a few more, especially the home games.
“Every good run comes to an end; it’s about starting the next one. That’s what the task is now.”
Black and Golds midfielder Paul Smith gave the hosts an early lead. He then missed a golden opportunity to double the advantage minutes later when he fired over the bar. EK immediately went up the other end and drew level.
Gibson added: “We made a mistake at both ends of the pitch. Paul Smith’s got to score, then Darryl Carrick doesn’t quite get his clearance right and they tuck it away, which changed the game.”
The visitors struck twice more in the first half to go in 3-1 up at the break.
Joel Mumbongo pulled one back for Annan midway through the second period but EK made sure of things in the closing stages as they added a fourth.
The manager said he would take responsibility for the result.
He added: “I asked the boys to do something that they weren’t familiar with in the first half, with the way we set up. It didn’t work.
“As a manager you don’t always get things right but it’s important you talk to the boys about accountability, responsibility and reflection.
“Paul Smith’s miss is a big one, because I might be standing here telling you something different.
“But, I think the shape that we played and the things that I asked the players to do that they weren’t familiar with allowed East Kilbride too much time and space on the ball.”
The Black and Golds now face a run of three away games in seven days.
They play Forfar tomorrow afternoon, Stirling on Tuesday night and Spartans next Saturday.
Gibson said: “The target is seven points, that’s what I would like.
“I’ve got full belief in the boys in the dressing room.
“You can see there will be boys who are maybe disappointed not to get on. Again, I said a couple of weeks ago – everybody will get opportunities.
“If we could get seven points out of the next nine it would be massive for us.”
Meanwhile, Gibson confirmed Tommy Goss was due to return to training on Tuesday. It is hoped the striker will play a part in upcoming games.
