Ladies hit four with no reply in East Ayrshire

ANNAN Athletic Ladies secured a strong 4–0 win away to Cumnock Ladies last Sunday afternoon in a competitive and physical contest. Annan started brightly, and they took control of the game early, heading into half-time with a commanding 3–0 lead after a clinical first-half performance. Cumnock battled well throughout, but Annan remained organised and continued to create chances in the second period. A fourth goal in the second half sealed a well earned victory and capped off a solid team performance. Athletic scorers were Rhian Williams, Phoebe Thorburn x2 and Louise Lundy, who was also named player of the match. Elsewhere, it was a day to forget for Gretna Ladies as they lost 10-0 to Newton Stewart. Unfortunately, the Anvils were restricted in numbers due to a raft of recent injuries but, nevertheless, they battled away stoically.
