Incredible weekend for Speirs

IT was a mixed weekend for the Solway Sharks. The Dumfries outfit were impressive as they trounced Basingstoke Bison 6-2 away from home. It was a brilliant first period with Jonny Yantsis netting a double, and Kell Beattie and Kyle Carruth also scoring. Duncan Speirs extended the lead in the second period before Beattie scored an empty netter. On Saturday, Sharks lost at home to Telford Tigers 8-3. It was a lively game but the visitors took home the points. Scorers for Sharks were Dylan Stewart (x2), Callum Boyd, Scott Henderson and Liam Stenton. Speirs was the Sharks’ top point scorer over the weekend after a goal and two assists in Basingstoke, before adding a further two assists to his tally on Saturday. This weekend, Sharks host Sheffield Steeldogs on Saturday with a 7 pm face off. The following day, the team travel down to Romford in a clash with the Raiders.
