In-form Wasps test for Murphy’s men
QUEEN of the South boss Peter Murphy admits the preparation for their clash with play-off rivals Alloa Athletic hasn’t been the best. It comes after the Doonhamers’ Challenge Cup tie with Dunfermline was called off at last minute. This weekend, the team travel to the Indodrill to take on the in-form Wasps. Murphy added: “It’s not the best preparations for it because Tuesday’s game was called off and we’ve missed out on a day of training. “I’m not going to ask them to travel tomorrow (Wednesday), it’s not great preparation but I can’t argue with that because of how Tuesday night transpired. “Alloa are unbeaten in the league for a while (Queens were the last side to beat them) and not conceding a lot of goals. They are flying high in confidence and are good at home. “It’s going to be a difficult game but we’ve only lost once in our last six league games, but we know we can play better than we have in the last couple of outings. “It’s going to be a challenge and one the players will definitely be looking forward to.” The boss revealed that defender Mikey Hewitt – who was an unused sub against Cove – could get some minutes under his belt. The right back – who netted the winner the last time Queens played Alloa – has been out since suffering a broken arm against Peterhead. Billy Gray is a doubt with a foot injury, whilst Jordan Allan continues his progress on the training ground.
