Hull dominate in opening weekend

THE Solway Sharks travelled to East Yorkshire last weekend for a pre-season double header against the Hull Seahawks. With the Sharks rink currently being updated, they faced the Seahawks twice at the Hull arena. Game one on Saturday saw Matty Davies’ side pick up a 5-2 win, however, new Sharks imports: Derek Osik and Dylan Stewart were both on the scoresheet in the clash. And on Sunday the Seahawks continued their dominance at home with a 9-3 victory. Their Canadian forward, Jordy Stallard scored twice with Noah Kääriäinen grabbing three points on the night. The Sharks begin their Planet Ice NIHL National Division season this weekend with an away double header. On Saturday they meet Swindon Wildcats and on Sunday they face Bristol Pitbulls. The Dumfries side do not return home until Friday October 24, when they have a fixture scheduled against Leeds Knights.
