The 17.5 kilometre race saw 55 runners set off in damp, cloudy conditions over Knocktim to climb steeply through the Door of Cairnsmore, then head north along the Knee of Cairnsmore to reach the summit of Cairnsmore of Fleet at the trig, then descending down to the finish. Tom Spencer, from Dark Peak fell runners, was the first home with a time of one hour, 21 minutes and 40 seconds; closely followed by fellow Dark Peak runner Finlay Grant and Charlie Allmond from Ambleside. Catherine Peutherer, of Shettleston Harriers, was the first woman to complete the route with a time of one hour, 55 minutes and three seconds. Reflecting on the success of this year’s race, organisers and marshals Galloway Mountain Rescue team said: “A fantastic event with 55 runners all starting and finishing before the rain arrived. Huge credit to everyone who finished the race. “Huge thanks to all team members and supporters who helped organise, set up and marshal the race. “Also, a special thanks Colin and Annette McClymont at Muirfad Farm for letting us use the barn and farm area for the start/finish.” Above: race winner Tom Spencer collects his prize from British long-distance runner Nicola Spinks
